Today, our last full day in London, was spent at the Tower of London and at Westminster Abbey. Westminster Abbey wouldn't allow photographs inside, so we only a few on the outside. Also they didn't allow photographs of the inside of the Jewel House and the Crown Jewels. Carol realized that the “Tower” of London should really be the “Towers” of London, as it is a collection of many towers.
I will say that there have been a lot of changes since I visited 13+ years ago with my Dad. Most of it was done because of the Queen’s Jubilee (50 years on the throne) celebration and getting ready for the 2012 Olympics. There was a lot of wonderful improvements, but I will have to say that some of the technology upgrades were a little too glitzy and “Hollywood”. It made some of the exhibits look a little cheap and commercial.
On the culinary front we did discovery something unexpected in London. The pastries are spectacular. We haven’t eaten a lot of them, but when we have splurged we found them to be fresh, moist and delightful. Overall we haven’t had a bad meal, but we haven’t had a great meal either. We have eaten Indian, British Pub Grub, Italian, Deli, and a hamburger joint. So if you want a good scone, go to London, if you want a good croissant go to Paris. |
